1964 Ford Wagon....next scheduled job

How often do you see one of these running around? This is a 1964 Ford Wagon that we recently received in our shop for work. Prior to us getting it...the 390 Engine had been re-built, most of the body work, paint, new exhaust system, newly installed brake system was finished..(but because it has been stored outside and exposed to the elements for several years, the majority of the new has "paid the price" so to speak). However....it can be saved with some TLC and lots of "grunt" work. The owner is looking to have the car put back together and made into a safe daily driver. How far she goes with the restoration is entirely up to her.....but for now.....
A partial list of the requirements we need to accomplish in order to bring the car together once again and make it a "SAFE" daily driver.
- Front Fenders sand blast, repaired, prime paint and install
- Front clip installed
- Install Hood (after re-working prior faulty repair/paint)
- Complete wiring harness throughout the entire car
- Install the rear tailgate
- Clean and polish all exterior trim and install
- Interior trim and panels cleaned, painted and installed
- All rubber seals replaced
- Window felts and rubbers replaced
- Interior needs to be re-assembled
- Old Dash removed and install "Donor" dash
- "Donor" Dash needs sand blasted, primed and painted
- Rewire entire dash/gauges
- All hardware needs cleaned or replaced w/nos (door handles, mirrors, latches, lights, gauges, etc)
- Diagnose a problem with the re-built 390 engine
- Install bumper brackets and bumpers (Front & Rear)
- Install Luggage Roof Rack
- Possibly remove existing seats ...to be sent out for re-upholstering (decision to be made by Owner)
- Install new carpet (to be decided by owner)
- Entire vehicle needs color sand and buff
- Entire "Safety Check"
The vehicle was stored outside prior to us getting it...and unfortunately has a few issues resulting from such. The first thing we did was empty out the car and give it a good bath!! (TWICE) We then removed the old carpet...(that had gotten wet and rotted), and cleaned out the entire interior...then proceeded to wash/wipe everything down.

Now...it's looking a whole lot better and we have a much cleaner environment to start in.
The first task will be to work on the two front fenders and prepare them for prime and then paint..get the hood completed...locate the cowl and install...clean the grille and all of it's components so that we can completely assemble the whole front clip.
As of right now.....the engine issue is still a mystery....(Still performing diagnostics....)
A lot of our time will be dedicated to "cleaning the original parts" prior to installation....They too have taken a toll being exposed to their environment......but you can't beat having the original parts when it comes to restoring an older vehicle.
It's going to be a real nice, daily driving vehicle when we are finished with it.....and the owner is finally going to enjoy driving her "Baby" soon!!
Thanks for tuning in.....till next time
