1941 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible

We recently had the pleasure of working on a 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible.  The car came to us with several issues that needed attention.  Known issues were as follows:
  • Remove and replace existing gas tank w/new
  • Install an electric fuel pump w/new lines and wire
  • Repair passenger door (mechanism and re-align)
  • Car would run and stall...(check carb. issues)

After all of the above issues were tended to....A few other problems started "showing their face".  Once the electric fuel pump was installed and working properly...we detected a huge fuel leak in the fuel line connector.  Previously someone had replace the lines w/stainless and used the wrong connectors.  They would not seal properly causing the fuel leak.   Dave cut the lines and replace the connectors with the proper ones and now it's "good to go!!".  No more leak....but the throttle still would not work right?!!  After further inspection we realized that the pedal linkage was hitting the oil sending unit when depressing the gas pedal and the whole firewall was flexing at the same time.  We discovered the placement of the oil sending unit was in the wrong spot and that the throttle shaft was rusted in the hinged area preventing the "free" movement of the throttle rod.  So, Dave removed the oil sending unit to the proper placement and freed-up the rust on the trottle shaft hinge attached to the firewall.  AHHHHH.......Now....THAT'S HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO WORK!!!
The last extra we discovered came with the hand control for the throttle linkage.....it was missing?!  So, Dave fabricated a new linkage to render the problem fixed!

With the known issues and new found issues resolved, the 41 was finished and ready for delivery.  It was a pleasure to see the happy car and owner drive away!!

Thanks for tuning in America....till next time
