1964 Ford Wagon (update)
Many of you are probably wondering how the 1964 Ford Wagon job is coming along?
OK...... here's her brief update:
Upon inventorying the parts that came with the car...it was discovered that there were quite a lot of pieces missing. (ex. trim, light bucket assemblies, door handles, trim clips, body bolts etc.) The trim clips were ordered....(and they were not exactly what we were expecting). Just about every one of them were wrong.....(they were the right clips....it's just that whoever makes these?.......they really should pay attention to detail!!! They all needed to be "tweaked" in order for them to be used) JMO (just my opinion): Too much time, these days, is spent on modifying parts that should work, and makes the job somewhat frustrating at times.
The door handles needed to be ordered from two different suppliers. One had a good set of handles and one had a good set of push buttons. So...while waiting on the handles...we moved to other areas.
The front fenders have been repaired.....one has been painted, only to discover a "break-down" in the paint finish. Oddly the paint went on perfect....then the clear coat. HMMMMM....something has gone askew. The clear "changed " the base coat in a few spots. One spot turned a creamy yellow....right before my eyes, and another area outlined itself w/ dark blue and then changed to yellow. Not quite sure what happened....will discuss it with the paint rep. In the meantime.....a re-sand, prime and paint looks to be in the works!!
The cowl has been repaired and painted, the bumper filler has been repaired and ready for prime/paint. The original dash has been removed and the new "donor" dash is being prepped for paint, the hood came painted....but may need a "re-do" (previous paint job not complete...edges and under hood not painted and still showing rust). The tailgate has been assembled and installed, door rubbers are installed (now both tailgate and doors need re-adjusted), mirrors installed, door handles installed and d/s door lock. Now that the tail light buckets have arrived, we can get them installed and wired, as well a wiring the rest of the car.
Countless hours of cleaning and polishing the trim, and chrome accents have been done and are now installed on the car. (a few pieces of the side trim and tailgate trim needed some paint restoration). LOOKIN' GREAT!!!

Things are moving along nicely, even with all of the unexpedted bumps.
The owner is excited about the cars' progress....and can't wait to finally be able to drive it down the road!!!
Thanks for tuning in America....till next time
